We're looking for a practical and reliable Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep of our hotel. You'll play a key role behind the scenes, ensuring everything from guest rooms to public areas is well maintained, safe and fully operational.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll support both preventative and reactive maintenance, helping to deliver a high-quality environment that enhances the overall guest experience.

About the Role

You'll support the day-to-day maintenance of the hotel, ensuring all areas remain functional, safe and well presented.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out a range of maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating and minor electrical work.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance issues across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
  • Supporting preventative maintenance programmes to ensure equipment and facilities remain in good working order.
  • Conducting regular safety checks, including fire alarm testing and compliance checks.
  • Identifying and escalating any safety risks or defects promptly.
  • Working collaboratively with all departments to support smooth hotel operations.

About You

You're hands-on, dependable and take pride in your work. You enjoy problem-solving and keeping things running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience in a maintenance or similar hands-on role (or a strong willingness to learn).
  • Basic knowledge of general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, decorating or repairs.
  • A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • A commitment to health, safety and compliance standards.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and flexibility to respond to changing priorities.

What's in it for you

  • Career development through fully funded apprenticeships and our internal development programme.
  • Discounts on hotel stays and a variety of major retailers, restaurants and days out.
  • Free use of our gyms, pools, and leisure facilities.
  • 24/7 access to wellbeing, financial, and legal support.

Next steps

If you're shortlisted, we'll give you a quick call to learn more about you and answer your questions. Candidates who progress will then be invited to the hotel for an in-person interview.

We review applications as they come in, so apply early to avoid missing out. We may close the role once we've found the right person.
