The role

Imperial College London is seeking a Capital Project Manager to support the successful delivery of capital projects across our campuses, helping to create high-quality spaces that support research, education and collaboration.

In this role, you will manage the day-to-day delivery of capital projects, supporting the development of briefs and specifications and monitoring project programme, budget, risk, quality and health and safety. You will work closely with consultants, contractors and internal teams to help ensure projects are delivered effectively and in line with Imperial's standards and procedures.

You will also support contractor and consultant appointments, monitor project performance, carry out site inspections and contribute to project reporting, approvals and stakeholder communications. Working with senior project colleagues, you will help identify and resolve delivery risks and support the smooth transition of completed projects into operation.

What you'll do

Working within the Capital Project Delivery Team, you will manage capital projects and work packages, typically up to £5m, from briefing and feasibility through to completion and handover. You will help ensure projects are delivered safely, to the required quality, within agreed programmes and capital budgets, while supporting Imperial's wider Great Environment Strategy.

What we are looking for

  • A recognised project management or relevant professional qualification, such as CIOB, RICS, RIBA, APM or CMI
  • Relevant experience managing construction projects
  • Knowledge of preparing and controlling project budgets
  • Experience of working to tight programmes and deadlines
  • A strong understanding of quality and value for money in construction project delivery
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, consultants and contractors
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a complex organisation
  • Good IT skills and a delivery-focused, flexible approach to project work

What we can offer you

  • At Imperial, our values-respect, collaboration, excellence, integrity, and innovation-guide everything we do. You'll be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, working on projects that directly contribute to the safety and wellbeing of our community.
  • We are committed to creating an inclusive working environment and welcome applications from all backgrounds. We particularly encourage interest from individuals who are underrepresented in our workforce.
  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 43 days' annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
