The Vacancy

We're looking for an Investment Operations Analyst to join our Hymans Robertson Investment Services Operations team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing area of our business and play an important role in supporting our development as a Discretionary Fund Manager. You'll work within a collaborative team where your attention to detail, ideas and commitment to delivering a high-quality service will be valued

*We are open to considering candidates on a part time or full-time basis*

What will your role look like?

  • Reporting to a Senior Investment Operations Analyst, you'll work closely with colleagues across the business, including portfolio managers, business development managers, investment analysts and other business support teams.
  • You'll help ensure our investment portfolios and operational processes are administered accurately and efficiently. You'll also have opportunities to contribute to projects, strengthen our processes and support the continued growth of the team.
  • Some previous experience of investment administration would be beneficial, particularly within a portfolio or fund management environment. We'll also consider experience gained within brokerage, custody, platform or wider asset administration.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include

  • Administering portfolio changes across our portfolio management systems and external databases.
  • Reviewing and preparing regular client reporting, including portfolio factsheets.
  • Implementing and monitoring portfolios across multiple retail wrap platforms.
  • Reconciling and validating internal and external portfolio records.
  • Monitoring and validating client fee collection and payments in partnership with wrap platforms and our Finance team.
  • Working with wrap platforms to manage asset availability and onboarding requirements.
  • Supporting wrap platform governance meetings and helping to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Maintaining procedure guides and checklists, ensuring they remain accurate and up to date.
  • Supporting the management of the team mailbox and helping to resolve queries promptly.
  • Contributing to operational projects, process improvements and wider team development initiatives.

To enjoy and succeed in the role, you will have

  • Previous experience of investment portfolio administration, fund administration, asset administration or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a thorough, organised approach to your work.
  • A proactive mindset, with the confidence to suggest ideas and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • A collaborative working style and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • The ability to understand, investigate and clearly explain complex issues.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using Morningstar Direct would be helpful, although it isn't essential.

We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support. We would also love to hear about other knowledge and experience you may have that is not listed but could be of interest.

In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:

  • A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
  • A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
  • On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
  • A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
  • Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day's leave to celebrate your birthday.
  • Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments - with the expectation of two 'in-office' days per week.
  • A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

We'd be looking for our successful candidate to be based in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office. We offer hybrid working so you can enjoy the wellbeing benefits of working from home, alongside the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in our modern and sociable office environments.

Please note - we recruit on a rolling basis for immediately available opportunities and progress candidates as soon as their applications are received. Therefore, we'd encourage you to apply to this role as early as possible to avoid any disappointment.

We are committed to being open and transparent in our recruitment and reward processes. Please note that this vacancy does not currently meet the minimum salary threshold requirements for Skilled Worker sponsorship within the UK.

To avoid any disappointment, if you require sponsorship we would encourage you to check whether you may be eligible for a discounted salary threshold, or to explore alternative routes to secure your right to work in the UK before submitting your application. If you meet the criteria outlined in the job description we'll be happy to discuss your individual circumstances further with you.
