This is an opportunity to join a long-term, mission-critical AI programme delivering cutting-edge solutions in highly secure environments. You'll work on genuinely technical challenges, building AI applications from concept through to production, with the freedom to shape solutions in a fully remote contract role.

As part of a major long-term programme, they are expanding their AI engineering capability to support the delivery of secure, production-grade solutions. The Role and Deliverables

• Design, build and deploy secure AI-powered applications and services.
• Develop solutions using LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic AI frameworks.
• Deploy and operate self-hosted AI models in restricted, air-gapped environments.
• Build across the full stack using Python, TypeScript, APIs, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to translate evolving requirements into working software.
• Produce clear technical documentation and support solutions through to operational handover.

Your Skills & Experience

• Active SC Clearance and current BPSS eligibility.
• Strong hands-on experience building full-stack applications using Python and TypeScript.
• Experience developing and deploying LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Docker, containerisation, and self-hosted model deployments.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases in production environments.
• Ability to turn ambiguous requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
• Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience delivering technology solutions within secure government, defence, or similarly regulated environments is highly desirable.
• Exposure to Azure, GCP, vector databases, semantic search, knowledge graphs, or AI observability tools would be beneficial.
