Job overview

The fellowship is designed to offer extensive training opportunities for clinicians wishing to pursue a career in paediatric anaesthesia with a special interest in paediatric simulation. The post will consist of 12 months training in anaesthesia and simulation at this busy tertiary paediatric referral centre.

These are Trust Fellow positions. They don't have a National Training Number. The FRCA or equivalent level of knowledge is mandatory. Applicants would be expected to have completed the equivalent of at least one year of higher/advanced training in paediatric anaesthesia (or equivalent) and be within two years of completion or two years post completion of specialist training in anaesthesia at the start of the position. They should also be able to demonstrate a commitment to a career in paediatric anaesthesia. Applicants must be eligible to register with the GMC.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide a high-quality elective and emergency anaesthetic service.
2. To engage in clinical governance activities such as critical incident reporting, attend morbidity and mortality meetings, perform audit, and participate in any mandatory training deemed necessary.
3. To actively engage in the teaching and training of other members of the anaesthetic department and hospital staff.
4. Engage with quality improvement activity.
5. Perform additional management and administrative tasks as deemed appropriate to the position.

We actively challenge discrimination, dismantle barriers and embed equity across all aspects of our workforce, including recruitment, progression and development. All applicants will receive equal consideration regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, health condition or employment history.

We particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse communities, people with disabilities or long-term health conditions, and LGBTQ+ community members. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a member of the Business Disability Forum, and a Stonewall Diversity Champion.

Our staff networks, including REACH, PRIDE, ENABLED and Women's Networks, are active and executive supported. These employee-led networks play a vital role in shaping an inclusive culture at GOSH and are open to all colleagues.
