The role...

GlobalData Healthcare is building an AI-enabled competitive intelligence platform for the pharmaceutical market. It supports our consulting teams in tracking competitor drugs, clinical trials, regulatory decisions and market news for pharma clients, combining GlobalData's data, continuous monitoring of external sources, AI-assisted analysis and the expertise of our consultants. The platform runs on AWS, with a Python and PostgreSQL back end and a React front end. We are forming a small Birmingham-based team to develop and run it.

You will build and maintain the pipelines that bring data into the platform: GlobalData's drug, clinical trial and company data, alongside news, company and regulatory sources. You will make sure that data is reliable, well-structured and up to date, so consultants and AI features can depend on it.

What you'll be doing...

• Build and maintain data ingestion from a range of internal and external sources.

• Design and maintain data models and database structures.

• Monitor data quality and pipeline health, and resolve issues quickly.

• Optimise database performance and manage schema changes.

• Work with the wider team and the infrastructure team to keep pipelines robust and well documented.

What we're looking for...

Essential

• At least 2 years' experience building and running data pipelines in production, using Python and SQL.

• In-depth experience with PostgreSQL or a similar relational database, including performance tuning.

• Experience working with external data sources such as APIs, feeds and web data.

• A methodical approach to data quality and testing.

Desirable

• Experience running workloads on AWS (e.g. ECS, Lambda, SQS, S3).

• Experience with entity matching or record linkage.

• Familiarity with pharmaceutical or clinical trial data.
