The role

AI Software Developer

Permanent | London / Hybrid | c£50,000-£60,000

We are working with a large, purpose-led organisation that is investing in the practical use of artificial intelligence across its digital services and internal operations.

They are looking for an AI Software Developer to join a growing technology and data capability, helping turn AI concepts into reliable applications that can be used across the organisation.

This is a software engineering role with an AI focus rather than a pure research or Data Science position. You will build applications and services around modern AI technologies, integrate them with existing systems and support solutions through development, deployment and ongoing improvement.

The role

You will work alongside Software Engineers, Data professionals and business stakeholders to understand problems that could be solved through AI and develop practical, user-focused solutions.

Projects may include generative AI applications, intelligent search, automation tools and internal digital products.

You will contribute across the full development lifecycle, from prototyping and technical design through to testing, deployment and support.

You will also help establish good engineering practices around the use of AI, ensuring solutions are secure, maintainable and appropriately tested.

We are looking for experience across

  • Software development using Python and/or JavaScript / TypeScript.

  • Building APIs, backend services or web-based applications.

  • Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development.

  • Integrating AI or machine learning capabilities into software products.

  • Modern generative AI approaches such as RAG, vector search, embeddings or agent-based workflows.

  • Testing, version control and CI/CD within a professional development environment.

Experience with technologies such as Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure Machine Learning or similar AI platforms would be particularly useful.

You do not need to be an established Machine Learning Engineer. This role could suit a Software Developer who has started building AI-enabled products and wants to develop deeper expertise in applied AI engineering.

You will need strong problem-solving skills, an interest in emerging technologies and the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

This is an opportunity to work on genuine production AI use cases within an organisation investing in the long-term development of its AI capability, while continuing to build your software engineering and cloud skills.
