The opportunity - L4 Senior Manager, Corporate Transaction Tax Team

EY Tax is a market leader, renowned for delivering sustainable growth and empowering our people to shape their own careers. Our diverse, collaborative team advises on high-profile transactions, combining technical expertise, innovation and a genuine focus on continuous development. Join us to work on challenging, multi-country projects in a supportive, dynamic environment where your impact truly matters.

EY's Corporate Transaction Tax team (CTT), part of our International Tax and Transaction Services (ITTS) practice, advises some of the largest UK and multinational organisations on complex and high‑profile transactions. Our team is consistently recognised as market-leading, having advised on six of the ten largest corporate transactions in the market in 2025, working alongside award‑winning Partners and multidisciplinary deal teams. This is an exciting opportunity to join the most developed corporate focused, high‑performing M&A tax team at a pivotal time for the UK and global deals market. You will play a key role in helping clients navigate complexity and deliver successful transactions across the full deal lifecycle.

As a Senior Manager in CTT, you will take a leading role in delivering complex transaction tax engagements, acting as a trusted adviser to clients and as a key member of the engagement team. You will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, group restructurings, IPOs and refinancings, advising on tax structuring, buy‑ and sell‑side tax due diligence, SPA support, funds flows and post‑deal implementation. Given the cross‑border nature of much of our work, you will collaborate closely with EY teams globally, combining deep UK tax expertise with international tax. You will also play a critical role in shaping client relationships, supporting business development initiatives and mentoring the next generation of transaction tax professionals.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver technically complex transaction tax engagements, ensuring technical excellence, commercial relevance and high‑quality client outcomes.
  • Act as a day‑to‑day senior client contact, building trusted relationships with clients, advisers and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee multiple engagements and workstreams simultaneously, with responsibility for scope management, resourcing, budgeting, risk management and quality control.
  • Support in business development, including identifying opportunities, supporting the growth of key client accounts.
  • Coach, mentor and develop Managers and junior team members, providing oversight, feedback and support to enhance a high‑performing and inclusive team culture.
  • Contribute to the broader development of the Corporate Transaction Tax practice, including thought leadership, internal training and process improvement initiatives.
  • Leverage AI and technology to enhance how we analyse, deliver and communicate transaction tax advice, driving greater efficiency and insight for our clients.

Skills and attributes for success

What we look for:

  • ACA/legal qualification or tax qualification (or equivalent breadth of knowledge and experience).
  • Significant prior experience in transaction tax, including leading tax structuring and/or tax due diligence engagements.
  • Deep UK corporate tax expertise, with the ability to apply technical knowledge pragmatically and commercially in a fast‑paced transaction environment.
  • A strong track record of managing complex projects and client relationships.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
  • The ability to operate effectively in a dynamic deal environment, managing risk and competing priorities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking, with a clear focus on what matters most to clients during transactions.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and take ownership of delivery in high‑pressure deal situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear, concise and well‑structured client deliverables.
  • Confidence in building client relationships and playing an active role in business development and practice growth.
  • A collaborative, inclusive leadership style with a passion for developing people.
