Search is changing faster than it has in 20 years. We want someone to build what comes next.
Most SEO leaders inherit someone else's strategy and spend their time tweaking it. This role is different. You'll be the person who decides what organic acquisition looks like for the UK's leading end-of-life business, across several brands, every channel, and a search landscape being reshaped by AI in real time.
And the work matters. When someone searches "how do I arrange a funeral" or "what happens when someone dies," they're often having one of the hardest days of their life. The answer they find should be clear, honest and genuinely useful. Making sure it's ours is the job.
Who we are
Life Services Group is home to Dignity, Simplicity and a growing family of brands. Our mission is to help every family in Britain navigate the hardest moments of life with simplicity, dignity, kindness and exceptional care. Our vision is bold: to help one in three people across the UK plan for and deal with death.
We talk about death plainly, because it's part of life. And we're building a modern, multi-brand business that makes planning ahead and saying goodbye simpler for everyone.
The opportunity
We already have well-established sites, strong domains and real experience in publishing and design. The foundations are in place. What we need now is a leader to set the direction and drive the impact.
You'll report directly to our Marketing Director, with strong interest in your work all the way to the top of the organisation. You'll own the strategy, shape the team and build a function you can genuinely call your own.
What you'll do
- Own the organic strategy across our brands. You'll set targets based on funeral and funeral plan sales and revenue, not just rankings, and prove impact through incrementality testing.
- Lead the way on AI search. You'll define how our brands show up in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and track how often we're cited and how accurately.
- Oversee content across every channel. That covers the website, organic social and YouTube, with content built on the real expertise of our funeral directors, celebrants and planning specialists. It's the kind of content generic AI answers can't replace.
- Build an audience we own. You'll turn visitors into people we know and help them, from planning ahead to arranging a funeral and remembering someone, so no single platform controls how families find us.
- Build the team. You'll design the SEO team structure from the ground up, across in-house roles, agencies and AI-powered workflows, then lead and develop the people in it.
- Work hand in hand with PPC, brand, product and engineering. You'll make sure organic, paid and brand work together, and that every new site and product launches ready for search.
About you
- You're a senior SEO or organic growth leader with a track record of growing sales and revenue, not just traffic.
- You've worked both in-house and agency side, and you have a strong point of view on where organic is heading.
- You're commercially minded and confident explaining the impact of SEO to finance and senior leaders.
- You've worked in B2C, close to real customers. Experience in financial services, insurance, healthcare or another high-trust, regulated category would be a real plus, as would multi-brand or multi-site SEO.
- You're hands-on with AI tools in your everyday work, and excited by what they make possible.
- You'd rather build something new than tweak what already exists, and you're comfortable working on content about death and funerals.

Why Life Services Group
Life Services Group exists to help every family in Britain navigate the hardest moments of life. We bring together trusted names across funeral services, crematoria and cemeteries, legal services, direct cremation and wills, including Dignity Funeral Directors, CMG, Simplicity Cremations, Dignity Legal Services and Farewill, so families can get more of the support they need in one place.
Our ambition is to support one in three families across the UK as they plan for, navigate and deal with death. We want to set a new standard for care, service and simplicity across the sector.
Death is part of life, and being there for families when it matters is what we do. That means making difficult moments feel more supported, more straightforward and more human.
We are building a modern group that supports families at every stage, from planning ahead with wills and funeral plans, to arranging a funeral, cremation or burial, and managing probate afterwards. This is a defining moment for our business. With stronger foundations, clearer strategy and real momentum, we can change end-of-life care for the better. We are modernising how we work, investing in our colleagues and technology, and helping more families than any one brand could alone.
Wherever you work in Life Services Group, in one of our local teams, specialist brands or group functions, you'll be part of work with meaningful purpose. You will help families through some of life's hardest and most important moments.
Across all our brands, we want colleagues to grow with us through better training, stronger support, modern tools and clearer opportunities to build skills and confidence. You'll be part of teams who care deeply about what they do, look out for each other and take pride in doing work that matters.
You will also help shape the future of end-of-life care. That means making support simpler, more connected and more human for families, while each brand keeps the identity, expertise and community connection people already know and trust.
If you want a career with meaningful purpose, room to grow with us and the chance to shape the future, find your Life's work.
