We are looking for an experienced and senior cyber security or digital and data professional to lead the Government Cyber Services team and support the Government CISO as one of the Deputy Government CISO's. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that central cyber capabilities are prioritised, designed, and adopted in ways that deliver measurable impact at scale. This role reports to the Director for the Government Cyber Unit.
As the Government Cyber Unit, our mission is to protect public services and the wider Government from cyber threats and non-malicious technology failures. The Government Cyber Action Plan (GCAP) sets out our approach to delivering this mission by achieving a radical shift in the pace of cyber and digital resilience transformation. We are responsible for delivering the central initiatives defined in the GCAP, as well as managing government-wide cyber risk on behalf of the DCMS Permanent Secretary. You will play a key role in government cyber security, taking decisions that affect the breadth of government and driving strategic improvement and change. You will need to be a confident, inspiring and inclusive leader, committed to the support and development of your staff.
Lead Government Cyber Services as the central service function for GCAP delivery, setting direction for a coherent portfolio of scalable cyber services that are delivered once and well, meet user needs, and improve cyber and digital resilience across government and the wider public sector. The role is accountable for delivery across the following core areas:
Fixed term
Loan
Secondment
12 months
Flexible working, Full-time, Job share
This role is based in London. Travel will be required occasionally.
The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK. The current expectation for staff is to attend the office or non-home based location for 40-60% of the time over the accounting period. Senior Civil Servant (SCS) staff are expected to aim for closer to 60% of the time at an office or non-home based location over the accounting period.
This role has a minimum assignment duration of 1 year. An assignment duration
is the period of time a Senior Civil Servant is expected to remain in the same post to enable them
to deliver on the agreed key business outcomes. The assignment duration also supports your career through
building your depth of expertise.
As part of accepting this role you will be agreeing to the expected assignment duration set out above.
This will not result in a contractual change to your terms and conditions.
Please note this is an expectation only, it is not something which is written into your terms and
conditions or indeed which the employing organisation or you are bound by. It will depend on your
personal circumstances at a particular time and business needs, for example, would not preclude any
absence like family friendly leave. It is nonetheless an important expectation, which is why we ask you
to confirm you agree to the assignment duration set out above.
