The role

The Security Advisor provides professional security guidance and assurance across projects, supporting Project and Site Management teams to identify, manage, and reduce security risks. The role ensures security arrangements are proportionate, compliant with company Standards and the Business Management System (BMS), and aligned with the company's Never Harm strategy.

The position is based on the Essex section of the project; however, the successful candidate will be expected to provide resilience cover and support across the Kent section when necessary.

What you'll do

  • Security Risk Management
Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of security risks across projects, ensuring alignment with company Standards, the Business Management System (BMS), and contractual requirements.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting
Assist with and lead investigations into security incidents, breaches, and near-misses. Produce clear, accurate reports with root cause analysis and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Operational Security Advice
Provide specialist advice on operational and physical security measures, including access control, perimeter security, asset protection, and site security procedures.
  • Site Inspections & Audits
Carry out regular site inspections and security audits to assess compliance with project security plans, regulatory frameworks, and agreed controls. Support the tracking and close‑out of corrective actions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
Work collaboratively with Project Site Management, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to promote consistent security standards and effective security delivery across all sites.
  • Assurance & Compliance
Provide assurance that security activities support the company's Never Harm objectives, protect confidential and sensitive information, and comply with internal and external requirements.

The Role

The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time.

We have a diverse programme team on LTC that reflects the communities we work in and fosters an inclusive culture by actively supporting the programme's Purpose, Principles and Cultural Pillars and growing employee networks.
