The role
About the role
Be part of this 'once in a generation' project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke.
We are more than just an alliance, we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.
What you'll be doing
The Plant Coordinator ensures the right plant and equipment are planned, mobilised, allocated, maintained, and safely operated to support the Enabling & Earthworks scope. The role optimises plant uptime and utilisation across bulk earthworks, haul road operations, materials handling, and logistics support, working closely with supervisors, subcontractors, and the logistics control room to protect the programme's critical
path.
Who we're looking for
Essential
• Experience coordinating plant/equipment on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects, preferably heavy earthworks.
• Strong understanding of plant capabilities, maintenance cycles, and safe operations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple suppliers, hire agreements, and competing site demands.
• Competent with Excel/Sheets and plant tracking tools; able to build clear dashboards.
• Excellent communication skills across supervisors, operators, and logistics teams.
Desirable
• Experience on nuclear, rail, highways, tunnelling or other regulated projects.
• Familiarity with telemetry/telematics (utilisation, fuel, idle time).
• Knowledge of LOLER/PUWER, lifting interfaces, and temporary works/ground conditions impacts.
• Exposure to control room operations and delivery management systems.
CSCS card (relevant level).
• CPCS/NPORS knowledge for plant categories (coordinating, not necessarily operating).
• SSSTS/SMSTS (desirable based on scope).
• First Aid at Work (desirable).
• Full UK driving licence
