Visa & relocation

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.

The role

The position plays a pivotal part in aligning Data & Analytics initiatives with broader enterprise goals, ensuring solutions integrate seamlessly across the organisation.

A core focus is driving the Data & Analytics Data Architecture Office, contributing to the definition, development and governance of a standard approach to the practice of data architecture across some of our largest and most complex transformation projects.

This role will also ensure we have a clear strategy and roadmap for our data layers such as storage, staging, conformed and marts including the definitions of medallion architecture into our data lakes.

What you'll do

  • You will be the custodian of the appropriate Enterprise Data Models associated with the Data & Analytics services (e.g. the Dimensional model used within BI and the Master Data model used within data management), within the context of the overall Data & Analytics Enterprise Architecture Information and Data Models, working closely with the Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence
  • You will define what good looks like in terms of Data Architecture best practices and approaches including the creation of blue prints for conceptual, logical and physical models
  • Database development and optimization - defining our approach to data systems (warehouses & lakes) across our data & analytics landscape creating roadmaps for change towards new technologies
  • Support our large transformation projects in their data journeys, defining re-usable artifacts to generate mature data architectures within our enterprise
