The role
Portfolio Underwriting Analyst
Salary : Up to £45,000
This is a great job for someone who has experience in underwriting, portfolio management, pricing, analytics or a related role within insurance and is looking to develop their career in a highly visible portfolio underwriting team. This role would suit someone with experience in the UK personal motor market, although we would also welcome candidates with transferable skills from other insurance products. Equally, if you're a graduate with strong analytical capability, commercial awareness and a passion for using data to solve business problems, we'd love to hear from you. You'll be joining a team that plays a key role in shaping underwriting strategy and delivering profitable growth across one of the UK's leading insurers.
A bit about the job
As a Portfolio Underwriting Analyst within Personal Lines Underwriting, you'll help optimise the performance and profitability of our motor insurance portfolio through monitoring, analysis and underwriting recommendations. You'll identify opportunities and risks across the portfolio, support segment reviews, recommend underwriting interventions and contribute to the delivery and review of underwriting footprint changes. Working closely with colleagues across underwriting, pricing, analytics, claims and customer operations, you'll help ensure our underwriting strategy delivers sustainable growth, effective risk management and good customer outcomes. Opportunities are available in Leeds, Norwich, Perth and Glasgow.
Skills and experience we're looking for
- Experience in underwriting, portfolio management, pricing or analytics, ideally within personal motor insurance.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, assess portfolio performance and translate data into clear recommendations and actions.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of the factors that drive insurance performance, profitability and customer outcomes.
- Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across underwriting, pricing, analytics, claims and operational teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to present findings, challenge constructively and influence decisions.
