The role

Are you passionate about technology and a natural problem-solver, eager to play a crucial role in keeping an organisation's systems running smoothly? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Amazon as an IT Apprentice.

In this role, you'll help deliver the efficient operation of the IT and telecommunications infrastructure that keeps our business running. Working alongside experienced ICT professionals, you'll learn to troubleshoot and resolve issues, keeping our systems and services secure, resilient, and aligned with what the business needs.

Throughout your apprenticeship you'll build a broad technical foundation - from network management and cloud services to virtualisation and telecommunications - alongside the communication and organisational skills that turn a capable technician into a trusted team member. We move fast, fail fast, and fix faster, so you'll be encouraged to dig in and take ownership early.

A day in the life can involve:

- Interpreting and prioritising customer requirements, providing remote or in-person support to resolve issues

- Diagnosing and rectifying faults with the right tools and techniques, documenting clearly and escalating complex problems as needed

- Installing and configuring computer systems, performing software upgrades, and maintaining network environments

- Monitoring system performance and applying security measures to protect against cyber threats

- Establishing and deploying digital communication or telecommunications systems, using diagnostic equipment as required

- Communicating with stakeholders at all levels, keeping them informed and managing escalations

- Maintaining a safe, secure working environment in line with health and safety protocols

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds with a keen interest in technology, strong problem-solving abilities, and great customer service skills. A proactive, organised approach and the ability to explain technical information clearly matter most. You don't need prior experience - just enthusiasm, a bias for action, and a genuine curiosity about how things work.

Here at Amazon, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Within this apprenticeship you'll put newfound knowledge into practice every day, supported by first-class coaching, tailored development, and rewarding work that will empower you to reach new heights and build the future you envision.

You'll gain a vast range of experiences and skills while working towards the Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship standard. As a working student, your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off-the-job time, developing the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You'll be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.

You'll build your skills over an 18-month period, starting in September. Your apprenticeship will combine classroom/virtual-based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning, and mentoring from our experienced team members.

We value different perspectives and experiences, and we're dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Our employee-led affinity groups - including communities for women in tech, LGBTQ+ employees, and underrepresented minorities - provide community, mentorship, and a platform for your voice to be heard. We're committed to building a workforce that reflects the customers and communities we serve.

We're also continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth's Best Employer, so you'll have the resources and support to develop into a well-rounded professional.

Please note: as part of your off-the-job learning, you may be required to travel to a training centre, which may differ from your primary work base. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel as part of the programme.

Your career isn't a straight path - it's a journey you build as you go. A universe of opportunity awaits, and your next adventure starts here.
